A Short History

How We Got Hard, Hazy Tap Water

FLORIDA — GROUND UP

Millions of years ago

Ancient seabed becomes limestone. Much of Florida was once shallow ocean. What's left is a porous limestone shelf — the Floridan Aquifer — that now supplies most of the state's drinking water.

Every day since

Water dissolves rock on its way to your tap. As groundwater filters through limestone and dolomite, it picks up calcium and magnesium — the minerals that make water "hard" and leave scale on fixtures and appliances.

Coastal growth era

Heavy pumping meets rising seas. Decades of population growth increased demand on the aquifer, and saltwater intrusion now threatens supply in coastal communities — pushing more utilities toward reverse osmosis treatment.

Today

Hardness plus new contaminants. On top of naturally hard water, PFAS ("forever chemicals"), agricultural runoff, and aging infrastructure are now part of the conversation for Florida homeowners.

UNITED STATES — POLICY TIMELINE

Early 1900s

Chlorination begins. U.S. cities start disinfecting municipal water, dramatically cutting waterborne disease — the first major public win for treated tap water.

1972 – 1974

Clean Water Act, then Safe Drinking Water Act. Congress sets the first federal framework for water quality, giving the EPA authority to regulate contaminants in public drinking water systems.

2014 – 2016

Flint, Michigan. A well-known lead contamination crisis puts municipal water infrastructure under national scrutiny and pushes home filtration into the mainstream conversation.

2024

EPA sets first national PFAS limits. Regulators establish enforceable limits on "forever chemicals" for the first time — many municipal systems, Florida included, are still catching up.

The Direct Difference

Why Homeowners Work With Us

We're not a national franchise reading from a script. We're a Sarasota-based crew with a background in hands-on construction and contracting — and we treat every install like it's our own house.

— NO MIDDLEMEN

Direct-to-Homeowner

It's in the name. You deal with the people actually designing and installing your system — not a call center, not a commissioned sales rep upselling you on gear you don't need.

— RO FOCUSED

We Specialize, Not Generalize

Reverse osmosis and whole-home softening are what we do. That focus means we size systems correctly for Florida's mineral load instead of pushing one-size-fits-all packages.

— BUILT ON A TRADE

Contractor-Grade Installs

Our background is in hands-on construction work, so plumbing runs, tie-ins, and finish work are done like a licensed trade job — not a weekend add-on.

— NO GUESSWORK

Free In-Home Water Test

Before we recommend anything, we test your actual water — hardness, chlorine, TDS — and show you the numbers. You'll never buy a system based on a sales pitch alone.

— PLAIN PRICING

One Honest Quote

No inflated "sticker price" designed to be haggled down. You get one clear number for equipment and install, explained line by line.

— LOCAL & ACCOUNTABLE

We Live Here Too

We're drinking the same Sarasota water as you. If something's not right after install, we're a local call away — not a 1-800 queue.
